Eternal life can be yours through Jesus Christ. Comes in a pack of 25.
“The good news of the Bible is that God has provided eternal life as a free gift. “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 3:23).
We know that none of us are perfect. According to the Bible, we are sinners, and God has put a price on sin. “The wages of sin is death.”
BUT GOD has provided eternal life as a free gift. Many people are going to die and be forever separated from the life of God. But anyone who wants to, can receive eternal life and be assured that he will live forever with God.
God cannot simply ignore our sins and give us eternal life. Something had to be done about the problem of sin. So God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for our sins so that He could give us eternal life. After the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins on the Cross, He came back from the dead and is now alive in Heaven. He has made it possible for us to be saved from the penalty of sin and have eternal life.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Jn. 3:16).
This is where many people make a mistake. They know that Christ died to save them but they do not understand how to receive this salvation. Here are some things that many people have thought were necessary in order to have eternal life.
à Keep the Ten Commandments
à Attend church regularly
à Be baptized in water
à Do your very best
à Give to charity
à Turn from your sins and live better
à Holy Communion
à Obey the Golden Rule
But none of these things can save us, or even help to save us. These are works that people do. The Bible says: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: NOT of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9).
We could never be good enough to work our way into God’s favor. Eternal life can only be received as a gift from God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
What Does it Mean to “Believe in Christ”?
It is important to realize that knowing about Christ is not the same as believing in Him. Perhaps you have been aware, for quite some time now, that Christ died to save you, but you have never actually placed your faith in Him to do it. It is one thing for you to understand that Christ died for your sins on the Cross, was buried, and raised from the dead. BUT it is something else for you to depend upon Him, in view of His death for you, to be your Savior and give you eternal life. This is very vague in the minds of many people. They feel that, somehow, Christ’s death on the Cross might help their case but they have never actually taken hold of it by faith and believed that eternal life is really theirs because Christ died for them.
If you have never settled this matter, why not get it settled right now? Cast yourself upon the Lord Jesus Christ with real confidence, sincerely believing that He will do for you exactly what He promised! His words are clear and plain: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life” (Jn. 6:47).
