MESSAGE:
“I have been writing to inmates in American prisons for over 35 years. Some letters have been to individuals who are waiting for a date with death. When we consider the Bible on the subject of death, we see at once that all of us are on a death row, of a sort. In Hebrews 9:27 we read, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” This truth is directed toward all men, not only for those on a prison death row. What can be said to the uncounted millions facing this sure and so certain death?
In the same chapter of Hebrews, just noted above, we see also the God-given means of total freedom. Christ came to pay the penalty for our sins. In verse 26 we read, “He [Christ] appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” Read the entire chapter and see that it was by the blood of Christ that we are set free. Our part is but to believe and trust this One Who paid it all at Calvary.
How is it that our belief in a Christ Who died many years ago can save us? Well, listen, Christ is not dead! The Scriptures tell us that He rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). He is very much alive today. He is speaking to men and women around the world. His invitation is one that is plain to read and to hear. In John 5:24 we read, “He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” To all those on this world-wide death row, there is Christ’s perfect and present invitation to be saved.
Today we are not faced with the sin question, but with the Son question. What will you do with the Lord Jesus Christ? Invite Him to come into your life without delay.”
