MESSAGE:
“At one time or another, many of us, if not all of us, have enjoyed playing the board game entitled “Life.” It is amazing how much the game actually parallels real-life situations. The game begins with each player given an automobile as a marker. Then, with the twist of the spinner, one is on his way. It isn’t long until he finds himself at a very important fork in the road. It is here that he will make a decision that will determine the route he will take for the remainder of the game. As the player proceeds along the avenue of “Life,” he acquires a family, property, and other personal and material things. As the game progresses, the player has an opportunity to gain great wealth; the more the better. The winner is determined by the one player who, after gambling his earnings, ends up the millionaire. When the game is over, the pieces are all gathered up, the money and the board are put in the box, and then it is put away.
Each of our lives is very much like that in the game of “Life.” We each come to a point where we must make decisions that will affect the balance of our lives. As we pass through our time on earth, we, too, acquire family, property, and other personal and material things. And, like the board game, when the game ((Life) is over, everything goes into the box and is put away.
The Bible clearly teaches that each of us is destined to die. Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed unto men once to die….” That death is the result of sin. Many feel they are good people and not sinners. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” All of us are sinners and have earned death: separation from God. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
That gift is ours when we come to God, admitting that we are a sinner and need a Savior. Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” We must acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (God) and confess that He is the One Who can save us if we will but believe in Him and what He did for us at Calvary.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 says, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel [good news] which I have preached unto you, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures….” All you must do is believe; not just a mental acknowledgement but, rather, a placing of one’s confidence in the finished work of Calvary. There is nothing we can do that will earn us salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Romans 10:13 further states, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Won’t you, just now, come to the Lord and accept His FREE GIFT of Eternal Life? Admit that you are a sinner and need Christ. Trust in the finished work of Calvary: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Ask Him to come into your life and be your Savior, then you can rest assured, that at that moment, you will be eternally secure. Ephesians 1:13 gives us that assurance: “In Whom we also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.”
When your game of “Life” is over and you are placed in a box, where will you spend eternity?”
