MESSAGE: ““NO THANKS!” “I have my own religion!”
A person who makes such a statement has no idea of its profundity. What he really has said is:
(1) “I prefer a system instead of a Savior!” But the Bible says, “For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Lk. 10:10).
(2) “I have already made up my mind; don’t confuse me with the facts.” But the Apostle Paul tells us, “…Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3-4).
(4) “I do not believe that one is saved by faith in Christ, but it is by works of religion.” But God’s Word, the Bible, explains, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom. 4:5).
(4) “I don’t need a Savior; I’m all right.” However, John’s Epistle insists, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us…If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him [Jesus] a liar, and His Word is not in us” (1 Jn. 1:8, 10).
MY OWN RELIGION
That’s what it is—a religion that he has made up, or that he or she blindly has received from someone else. But the Word of God says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Prov. 14:12). “No thanks” is what one says to spurn a gift that is offered. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom. 6:23) “No thanks!” “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). “No thanks!”
“Jesus answered and said, If thou knewest the gift of God…everlasting life” (Jn. 4:10, 14). “No thanks!” I have my own religion.
