Acts Commentary, Vol. 4

In this fourth volume of our Acts commentary, we will find the Apostle Paul appearing before the

religious and civil authorities of his day. As the Jews press for some charge against Paul, he

appeals to Caesar, thus removing him from the lower courts, and sending him to Rome. During

a storm that arose during this perilous journey by sea, God sent an angel with these prophetic

words: “Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all

them that sail with thee” (Acts 27:24). While this message refers primarily to the physical voyage

these passengers were undergoing, it also applies to those who “sail with Paul” in a spiritual

sense. You see, the risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ revealed that great message known

as the “mystery,” the “gospel of the grace of God,” and “the dispensation of the grace of God,” to

the Apostle Paul, to deliver to the Gentiles. It is this message of salvation by grace through faith in

the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for our sins (see 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) that we can be

made right with God! Join us as we “sail with Paul” through the last section of the book of Acts.
