Dear Friends,
Greetings from sunny Pennsylvania. We arrived here about 9:00pm Saturday
after leaving Missouri and the Cowboy Family Bible Camp.
What a week we had there. Just over 165 people attended the camp, and
although we had a good deal of rain (and mud) the large tents and gravel on the
ground kept us dry. Les Feldick was very enjoyable and we deeply appreciated our
time spent with him. I had seen him on the TV and head about him from many
people on our travels but I had never met him. We enjoyed great
fellowship and I
found him to be a very knowledgeable and humble man. He spoke three
times each
day with three of those a Q&A time that he allowed me to share with
him. I'm
sure Lee will have a post on the conference soon but from my perspective
it was
extremely beneficial spiritually and the fellowship was great.
We departed Missouri Friday afternoon and set out for Pennsylvania and VBS
#2 in Duncansville, PA. After some motor home trouble (that same our "coughing"
that couses us to lose all power) we arrived (about 5 hours late) in the pouring
rain. Besides the "cough" we have a leaky roof around a vent. I decided to take
a tarp and fasten it over the roof to keep the rain out. All was going well
until the ladder broke and that's all I remember. I ended up in the ER with a
deep head wound, a cacusion, some major scrapes and bruised ribs. Sunday I did
preach but I chose to sit on a stool. Getting up and down and standing is quite
painful yet. Sleep is difficult due to pain. But all this will pass and praise
the Lord we will begin the VBS tonight.
Pray for the group of kids from the Coopersville Bible Church who have
joined us this week and will be helping. With my fall and pain their help is
even more appreciated. They will be helping throughout the VBS, including the
one-on-one time so please pray that their ministry is fruitful and that they
personally gain from this experience in serving the Lord.
Continue to pray for Lee and Darlene as they are conducting Cowboy Camp #1
in Missouri this week and then it's off to South Dakota.
Praise the Lord for His continued blessing and provision.
In Christ,
Joel & Susan McGarvey
